Funding Success

East Kilbride Development Trust has successfully bid for funding from the Climate Challenge Fund, to enable us to carry out our organic food growing projects. These are: Scottish Seed Exchange Network (working in partenership with the National Museum of Rural Life), Organic Growing Courses and School Gardens provision and support.

Press release was as follows:

"East Kilbride Development Trust Food Initiative (Seed Exchange and Organic Vegetable Growing Project - £60,000.00

The Scottish Seed Exchange Network and Community Organic Vegetable Growing Project, will promote sustainable low carbon living, community education, social inclusion, health and anti-poverty; using local natural resources to enable everyone who wishes, to grow affordable organic food, for optimal health. The project will engender a greater degree of self sufficient food production, thus local food sovereignty and security, forming robust community networks allowing the exchange of sustainable organic growing methods and seed saving knowledge."

I would like to thank all the stall holders and members of the public who attended our recent Seed Exchange event. A great day was had by all.
